This two bedroom apartment is situated in an authentic building at the ‘Monnikenstraat’. This small historical street is located in the city centre of Amsterdam. This apartment is the perfect short stay residence for those who want to visit Amsterdam.
Our Butter Scotch apartment is situated on the first floor of an authentic Amsterdam building. After climbing the original steep stairs you will enter the large and light living room. It’s furnished with two large comfortable sofas’, a dining table, a coffee table and a TV/DVD set for watching movies or international channels. The kitchen is large and provides you with anything you need for preparing meals. From the kitchen there is access to your own balcony for having a drink or a smoke. The bedrooms are both spacious and filled with light. One bedroom has a double bed and the other room has two double beds. The renovated bathroom has a sink, a shower and a bathtub. The toilet is separate. The apartment has a beautiful wooden floor and has large windows providing a bright and clear atmosphere inside. It is the ideal apartment for small groups who like to get in touch with Amsterdam.

The apartment is located in an historical part of the Amsterdam city centre. The small historical’ Monnikenstraat’ is right between the Newmarket and the Red light district. This lively area is known for its many restaurants and bars, so there will be visitors from all over the world. The red light district is a very popular touristic attraction. Enjoy your walk through this district and a red burning light means that the lady of the night has a customer. The Newmarket is a historically interesting place because in the middle of the square you will find the’ Waag’. Many historical towns or cities in the Netherlands have or had a ’Waag’. It was used for weighing products and was therefore a place of commercial activities. But the interesting fact about this ‘Waag’ is that it once was a gate of the city defense wall. Amsterdam was a very thriving city and kept expanding so quickly that this gate became the ‘Waag’. Until the Second World the Newmarket was the heart of the Jewish community living in Amsterdam. The Jewish historical Museum can tell you more about the history of the Jewish ‘Amsterdammers’. Nowadays this area is known as China Town and provides you with a large choice of restaurants, shops and Asian supermarkets.
