This Amsterdam accommodation is idyllically positioned within close proximity of numerous sightseeing spots and interesting attractions, with its central location allowing most of the city to be reached by foot. The capital’s Central Station is a mere five minute stroll from the apartment, alleviating the stress of public transport or expensive taxi rides for your journey to and from the airport. Dam Square, Amsterdam’s central point, is also less than ten minutes away. This animated area is heavily populated with tourists and houses the 17th century Royal Palace, the trendy stores of the Magna Plaza and Bijenkorf and the recognisable National Memorial Statue, erected to commemorate the lives lost in the Second World War.
To the immediate west lies the treasured Jordaan district, brimming with exquisite architecture, stunning canals, and a host of typical bars, cafes and restaurants. Equally authentic is the nearby Harlemmerstraat, a lively yet laid back avenue that has recently received the title of best shopping street in the Netherlands. Perfectly situated for food and shopping in general just need to be aware that the price of an upper level apartment in a character building is a lot of very tight staircases to navigate with suitcases.IANDate: 16-Jun-2012 Rate: 9 The apartment has loads of charm and character, as soon as you walk through the door you know you've made a good choice. The apartment easily accomodates six and is perfect for a family stay with plenty of 'break-out' space.
Location-wise, it's close enough to Central Station to be walkable even with cases, but is outside the cheap tourist area that surrounds Central Station. On the inner-most canal (Singel) of the canal belt, it's only 5-10 minutes to walk through gorgeous streets to 'The 9 Streets', The Jordaan and the rest of the Old Canal District.
