  • The Congress Centre Apartment B5 can be found to the south of the city in the quiet Ijselbuurt neighbourhood alongside the beautiful River Amstel. From here you can easily access the city via the excellent bus, train and tram links from Amstel Station that lies just across the adjacent Berlagebrug Bridge. It will take around 7 minutes to reach the old city centre. Alternatively you can also walk into the centre by following the Amstel north which takes around 25 minutes. Why not hire bicycles for the duration of your visit? It’s lots of fun and cycling in Holland is incredibly safe compared with just about any other European country. Bicycle hire shops are all over the city and are very reasonably priced. Why not ‘go native’ and the bicycle obsessed locals. Seeing the city on two wheels and at a slightly faster pace is lots of fun and very healthy!

    Just a 10 minute walk to the east is Artis Zoo and the Botanical Gardens. These are excellent places to visit with children as there is so much to see and do. Everyone will be impressed by the delightful butterfly house where you are surrounded by thousands of fluttering creatures that like to sometimes land on your head and arms if you are still enough. In the gardens you can walk in the giant green houses amongst the huge cacti and the lush greenery in tropical temperatures. A great idea for a cold winter afternoon in the city.
