  • In the southern part of the city, the Congress Centre Apartment C2 has excellent links to and form the city centre. Cross the nearby Berlagebrug Bridge to Amstel Station and you will find trams, buses and trains all heading to Central station.  Alternatively a walk to the centre takes around 25 minutes whilst following the majestic River Amstel and admiring all the houseboats on the water along the way.

    Many visitors choose to ‘go native’ and hire bicycles for the duration of their stay. There are many bicycle hire shops around the city centre with excellent affordable rates. Cycling is extremely sale in the Netherlands compared with most other European cities. With dedicated cycle lanes on 99.9% of all major roads, you hardly have any contact with the other traffic at all. Life on two wheels can be fun, much faster to get around and of course super healthy!

    Head east for ten minutes on foot and you will come to Artis Zoo and its amazing Victorian era aquarium. This beautiful marble lined building boasts thousands of fish and an impressive main hall with huge tanks on display. You can even find out what creatures lurk in the Amsterdam canals – there is pretend canal aquarium with old bikes and surprisingly large fish in it. The aquarium is part of the Artis Zoo complex. Be sure to not arrive too late as there is a lot to see here. All the usual favourites are here including giraffes, tigers and lots and lots of monkeys.
