The apartment is located at the Dam Square. This square is considered to be the historical commercial centre of the city. In the middle of the square once stood the ‘Waag’, where the products were weighed. Try to find the ‘Waag’ on one of the 17th century paintings in beautiful museums like the Amsterdam historical museum and the Rijksmuseum all on a walking distance away. Buildings that did survive time are the imposing former city hall which is now a Royal Palace, and the New Church dating back to the early 15th century. Enter the ‘Kalverstraat’ or ‘Nieuwendijk’ to shop for fashionable clothes, books, food and souvenirs. Also located at the square is Madame Tussauds where they show a large collection of waxworks. You are basically close to everything at this location and the nice thing is that you can do it all by foot. And in case you had enough of walking you can take one of the five tramlines that stop in the middle of the square.
