The Museum City Centre Apartment can be found overlooking the city’s extremely romantic Canal Belt district in the old historic centre. Marvel at the classical wonky 17th century canal houses, house boats and delightful tree-lined waterways here. The area is made up of four major canals that loop around the oldest part of the city with smaller canals and bridges joining them together. The bridging streets are known collectively as the Nine Streets and are packed with some of the prettiest and most interesting curiosity shops, boutiques, art stores and cafes in the city. The area is particularly romantic at night time when some of the smaller bridges are lit up by tiny fairy lights reflecting atmospherically in the canal water.
The apartment sits directly opposite the beautiful majestic Rijksmuseum. You can easily spend a whole day exploring all of its many national and international treasures and famous artworks. Don’t forget to check out the other galleries here in Museum Square. You will find the excellent and newly reopened Stedelijk Museum, with its popular 20th century modern artworks including Warhol, De Kooning, Matisse and Picasso, to name just a few. At the south end of the plaza lies the world famous Van Gogh Museum which houses the largest collection of his paintings including many of his revealing self-portraits.
A popular afternoon out is a visit to the nearby Heineken Experience where you can learn all about the fascinating history of Holland’s finest export. A highlight of the tour is receiving a real bottle of the beer to take home with your name or a message of your choice imprinted on the label. It makes a very unusual and unique gift for a loved one back home.
Getting to and from Central Station is extremely easy since regular trams travel right past the apartment’s front door. The journey takes around 9 minutes, depending on traffic.Location - Area: Jordaan, Canal Belt, 9 Streets, Dam Square, Vondelpark, Leidse Square, Museum Square
