The apartment is within easy walking distance of Central Station in the charming New Market or Nieuwmarkt District of the city and extremely close to the Metro station making it ideal for business or leisure travellers with lots of luggage.
Take a leisurely walk down the road from De Waag, the castle-like building that stands in New Market Square and you will soon find the ever-popular Waterlooplein Market. Here you can buy almost anything. If you are a looking for something unique and unusual to bring home for a loved one as a souvenir of your visit to Amsterdam then you are sure to find it here. From vintage clothing and antiques to books and old war memorabilia - the market has it all on offer.
Once you’ve completed your exploration of the market why not head to the near-by Cafe De Sluyswacht on Jodenbreestraat? Possibly one of the most wonky buildings in the city, its charming lop-sided exterior seems to constantly attract the attention of passing photographers. Inside this old 17th century lock-keeper’s cottage it is snugly and warm in the winter months and sells reasonably priced beers and coffee all year round. Meanwhile in the warmer months you might prefer to sit out on the charming terrace that overlooks the water and the beautiful Montelbaans Tower that Rembrandt once painted. If you are a lover of the great master himself, then be sure to visit the Rembrandt House Museum which lies directly opposite Café de Sluyswacht, on the corner of the market.
