The apartment building is located in the very centre just a few minutes’ walk east of Central Station. Directly opposite lies the Amsterdam Science Centre. Designed like the bow of a ship rising up out of the water, it’s become a well loved landmark of Amsterdam. In the summer months you can climb aboard and join local Amsterdammers sunbathing on the roof or ‘deck’. Inside this memorable building lies a treat for children and adults with inquisitive minds about how the world works. The science exhibitions here are interactive. The museum makes it very clear that you CAN touch the exhibits!
You may be wondering how to get around Amsterdam during you holiday. The choices here are greater than most capital cities. From Central Station you will find trams, buses, trains and even a free ferry taking you across the River Ij and explore Amsterdam North. Alternatively why not hire bicycles for the day or even the whole week and experience the city form a whole new perspective. Cycling in Holland and Belgium is considerably safer than in any other European countries since the cities are designed with bicycles in mind. 99% of all major roads in Amsterdam have dedicated cycle lanes meaning you have little contact with cars. It is of course still necessary to give way to traffic (and other cyclists) when necessary. Bicycles do not rule the roads…yet.Location - Area: Dam Square, Red Light District, Rembrandt Square
- Nearest landmark: The Oosterdok
- Distance to metro: 0.8 km
- Distance to tram/bus: 0.7 km
