Roger Sanchez, Riva Starr and other demi gods to appear on Pacha Festival

2017 Pacha Festival Amsterdam information coming soon !

The much fabled Pacha Festival Amsterdam is about to hit town for the third time running, kicking off Amsterdam’s hot and happy summer festival season. This dazzling event features open-air festivities, as well as a floating stage, two large tents and a total of 28 confirmed artists.

Hosted by, the festival’s musical styles include house, deephouse, techhouse and techno. Names? What to think of heavyweights Mark Knight, John Digweed, MK, Dennis Ferrer, Nic Fancuilli, Todd Terry, Riva Starr, Heidi and Matthias Tanzmann?

“One of the highlights this year will definitely be the exclusive back to back set between two legendary New York DJs: Roger Sanchez and Kenny Dope”, the organisers of the renowned club brand festival write on their website.

No kidding, they’ve got themselves a big fish with Sanchez, who after 20-plus years of veteran Grammy Award winning production, is still one of the world’s greatest names in house music. Witness the 28th April release of his latest album Dangerous Thoughts to get a good idea of what he’s all about. Sanchez, aka the “S-Man”, has gone back to his musical roots, which are the rather darker side of House, mixed with the later Techno sounds and the likes.

Described in the music press as his ‘perpetual love affair with the darker-side of house music’ S-Man is in the middle of making a triumphant return to the music scene with the record, released on his new record label, UNDR THE RADR. The album has also been dubbed  “a hot bed of solid grooves”.

“Already championed by Tensnake, Andy Cato, Dubfire, Mike Mago, Arnaud Rebotini, Zdar/Cassius, & more, ‘Dangerous Thoughts’ certainly sets the bar high for what we can expect from S-Man and UNDR THE RADR this year,” writes one reviewer on Altsounds.

Riva Starr is another huge talented kid on the block. Has been too for the past ten years or so. His collaboration with Fatboy Slim landed him a top ten hit last year with ‘Eat Sleep Rave Repeat’. What’s with the dog and cat in that song?

Aside from the music, the Pacha Festival features a hippie market, much like in the real Ibiza and just like last year’s, but bigger. In case you decide to make a go of it, be quick, because only regular tickets are on sale currently as the early bird tickets and VIP tickets are all sold out.

The dance music festival takes place on Amsterdam’s Java-eiland on Saturday, 17 May 2014. For more information, surf to the Pacha Festival website.
