Location

You are located in a peaceful area of Amsterdam called Dapper buurt, meaning Dapper area. This area was added to the city in the 19th century and was originally inhabited by the labor class. Later on it became a Jewish neighborhood until the Second World War. Most of the Jewish people got deported by the Nazi´s and many buildings were damaged or destroyed. Up until the 70ties most of the buildings were restored and nowadays the area is a quiet and peaceful area that is well known for its weekly market from Monday to Saturday.

You are on a walking distance away from the historical city centre but also you can take the tram that stops around the corner. You can walk to the Artis Zoo, or Hortus Botanicus which is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. Or visit the Dutch naval museum that has recently been renovated and explains you everything about Dutch naval history.

If you take a tram to Museum Square you can visit two of Amsterdam’s most popular museums. The Rijksmuseum and the van Gogh museum are right next to each other and exhibit fantastic collections of many famous Dutch master painters.
