The Dappermarkt was once voted by National Geographic Traveller magazine as one of the world’s “top ten shopping streets”. The market boasts over 200 stalls selling all number of crafts, clothing and international food. This is a great place to pick up some ingredients for your meals back at the apartment. You are sure to be amazed by the variety of products on offer and it certainly makes a great afternoon excursion. A walk in to the city centre takes around 10 to 12 minutes. On the way you will pass Artis Zoo. The back entrance to the zoo is actually only 5 minutes’ walk from your apartment. Here you will also see the amazing 19th century purpose built aquarium. This incredible building presents all kinds of underwater creatures. Most interesting is perhaps the mock Amsterdam canal which has some surprisingly big fish swimming around as well as some rusty bicycles.
