Location

Conveniently situated upon the banks of Amsterdam’s picturesque Prinsengracht Canal, this apartment is ideally located within the city’s sought after Jordaan district. Originally created in the 1600s to house the ever increasing working class population, the area soon became poor, run down and overcrowded. During the 1970s, the Jordaan benefitted from a much needed facelift, which transformed it into the stylish neighbourhood that it is today, brimming with chic boutiques and fine dining establishments.

Many of Amsterdam’s must see sights and attractions can all be found within close proximity to the apartment, including the world famous Anne Frank House Museum. Attracting visitors from across the globe, the museum tells the story of how Anne Frank and her Jewish family concealed themselves within the building’s secret annex, whilst they hid from the Nazis during World War II. It was here that Anne Frank wrote her renowned diary.

Also nearby, and definitely worthy of a visit, is the delightful Amsterdam Cheese Museum. This cute building boasts an array of traditional Dutch cheeses, such as Edam, Gouda and the locally produced Old Amsterdam Cheese, all of which are available to be sampled before taking back to the apartment to be enjoyed with a good bottle of wine.

This apartment was exactly what we were looking for for our third time in Amsterdam. The location could not have been better. Our host Marcel was fantastic. He was very helpful and even went as far as book a dinner reservation and printed off some paperwork that we needed for our trip later to Germany. We ended up having a lot in common and had drinks together one evening. Sylvia and Chris.
