Amsterdam Noord (literally: North) is more spacious and tranquil than other areas in Amsterdam, yet it is full of fun and interesting things to do. You will find a great mix of people in this area, lots of students, artists, and also families with small children. Amsterdam Noord is popular for its lovely views over the Amsterdam waters, cozy cafés, industrial area with organized food events and festivals, and off the beaten track bike lanes. Within a minutes' ferry ride from Amsterdam Central Station (offered free of charge by the Amsterdam government) you can reach several stations of the 'Northern grounds of the city'. From here you can enjoy a good walk to many of its interesting sights. Besides the ferries there are also busses and the metro to travel between North and the other parts of Amsterdam.

One of the nearby must-see sights is the Eye Museum, located in a remarkable architectural building. Here you can watch a movie, visit an exhibition or have a meal at the bar-restaurant with views over the IJ river. Next to the Eye Museum you can enjoy some beautiful views and culinary adventures at the A'DAM Tower, also full of entertainment. At the top of the tower are restaurants, a bar/lounge, and club situated. Next door you will find the cafe-restaurant THT, situated in the old canteen of the Shell factory, with DJ's in the weekend. At the former shipping wharf ’'NDSM-terrain'' (which is one of the ferry stops in the area) are some hip and alternative cafés, loved by locals. Amsterdam Noord is the perfect combination of entertainment and a good atmosphere, mixed with a residential vibe and tranquility.
