Newly renovated to a very high standard, this delightful holiday apartment has all the home comforts you would expect from any quality rental property on dry land. Spacious and stylish throughout, the boat is filled with lots of natural light via the ceiling skylights and portholes along the sides. The living area is beautifully decorated in a cool creamy colour with green accent walls and furnishings.  After a long day out exploring the city you will love returning to the houseboat. Relax with your guests on the big comfortable sofa which also converts easily into a bed for one of your guests. Enjoy watching the many international channels on the flat screen TV together. A fitted kitchen has also been installed in the apartment along with a dining table and chairs. The two bedrooms are prettily furnished with quality storage furniture, bed-side lighting and comfortable double beds. The apartment has a private bathroom fitted with a combined bath and shower, sink and toilet. Outside you will find the brilliant deck area where you can sit with your guests on a warm summer’s evening and enjoy a refreshing bottle of wine together.

The Captain’s Glory houseboat apartment is moored along the majestic Amstel River just a few seconds away from the point it meets the Prinsengracht Canal. This is a surprisingly quiet area considering you are so central in the city. The Prinsengracht is one of the four great canals that ring the oldest part of the city. If you follow it far enough northwards towards Central Station (clockwise) then you will come to the most famous address in Holland, 263 Prinsengracht. This is of course the secret home of Anne Frank and her family and friends who hid from the Nazis during the occupation until their unfortunate discovery. It is now an extremely well attended museum with over one million visitors every year. You are able to climb through the secret doorway into the secret annexe hide-away as well as see Anne’s actual diary and notes. The museum offers an insight into the history of ‘tolerance’ around the world and encourages visitors to consider their own actions in the future. This is definitely an enlightening, moving and thought provoking experience for visitors of all ages. For many visitors from around the world, a visit here is a personal pilgrimage after waiting many decades since reading the diary as a child.

Immediately north along the Amstel is the famous Skinny Bridge that features memorably in the classic 1971 James Bond film Diamonds are Forever. A little further up the river and you will come to the Waterlooplein, the city’s most famous flea market. Here you can buy almost anything from vintage clothing to Dutch antiques. It is a great place to pick up a bargain and something unusual as a souvenir of your visit to the city. Who knows what treasure you might discover!
