The apartment can be found to the immediate west of the old city centre known as De Costabuurt. You have easy access to trams at nearby De Clercqstraat and Kinkerstraat just a few minutes’ walk away which will whisk you to Dam Square and Central Station in around 10 minutes, depending on traffic. A walk to Dam Square will take around 20 minutes and you will pass through some of the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the country including the fabulous Canal Belt area. The typical tall wonky canal houses, pretty house boats and bridges have come to symbolise Amsterdam to millions around the world. Wander this surprisingly quiet area at your leisure and be sure to explore at night time at least once during your visit. Many of the little bridges are lit up beautifully creating a very romantic ambience.

Another nearby district just a 15 minute walk away is the charming Westermarket area. Here, the attic space at 263 Prinsengracht was most famously a temporary home to Anne Frank, her family and friends during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. You are able to climb through the secret doorway into their hide-away as well as see Anne’s actual diary and notes. For many people a visit here is something of a personal pilgrimage after reading Anne’s diary many decades earlier, perhaps as a child themselves. The museum attracts over a million visitors every year and provides an extremely enlightening, moving and thought provoking experience for visitors of all ages.
