This extremely appealing 1-bedroom self-catering holiday apartment provides accommodation for up to 4 people in central Amsterdam.
Step inside this outstanding holiday home and be wowed by the excellent use of space and quality of design. Recently fully refurbished the décor is tastefully neutral and features wooden floorboards throughout.
A TV and large sofa is provided in the main living room area where you are encouraged to kick off your shoes and relax with your guests - this is your holiday after all! The sofa also converts into a double bed for two of your guests at night time.
The private bedroom is equally tastefully decorated in restful earth tones to encourage a good night’s sleep during your stay. You will find a double bed and lots of storage for your belongings as well as warm ambient bedside lighting.
There’s a fully fitted kitchen area with everything you need to prepare your favourite dishes from back home. Alternatively you might like to experiment with some local ingredients and recipes. Pancakes anybody? Pick up all your cooking ingredients from any of the many convenience stores and supermarkets close to the apartment.
The apartment also incorporates a private bathroom fitted with a shower, sink and toilet.
Located almost on the west bank of the Amstel River itself, this fantastic apartment boasts an excellent location for access to the city and its many popular sights. Known as de Pijp, this delightfully vibrant residential district boasts two pretty city parks on your doorstep – Sarphatipark and the Oosterpark.
The old city centre is located to the north and to get there from the apartment you can either hop on a tram at nearby Ceintuurbaan or wander up on foot. We would recommend you hire bicycles and experience a more native way of seeing the city. It’s not only cheaper and quicker than public transport it’s also healthier and lots of fun.
The famous Heineken Experience is located close by. One of the most popular museum attractions in the city, here you can take a tour of the history of Holland’s most famous liquid export and even buy a bottle of the beer with your own name or message printed on the label. This makes an excellent souvenir of your stay in the city.
Alternatively cross over the Amstel into the leafy Plantage district and pay a visit to Artis Zoo. It’s one of the oldest zoos in Europe although its enclosures are very modern and as animal friendly as possible for its caged residents. The zoo also includes a large aquarium and a small petting area where you can interact with animals more native to Holland such as goats and chickens. The gift shop here of course features a wealth of animal focussed colourful items. There’s also an excellent café in the heart of the zoo where you can stop off for refreshments.
The Plantage district is also home to a very powerfully moving building that is certainly worth visiting during your stay. The Hollandse Schouwberg was once one of the city’s most popular theatres but its use changed overnight during the Nazi occupation period of the Second World War. It became the place where local Jewish people were detained before being dispatched to the concentration camps. Today it is a place of memorial where you can pay your respects to the estimated 80,000 plus people who were removed from the city during its darkest hours. It is important that we remember the past to learn for the future and this building has an important place in the recent history of the city. Visits to the city’s Jewish History Museum and the infamous Anne Frank House are also highly recommended.
Grab a slice of culture at the city’s nearby Museum Square. Here you are awarded a fantastic selection of world class artistry at the Stedelijk Museum (Modern Art) and the Van Gogh Museum as well as the huge Rijksmuseum which is packed with Dutch treasures.
