Ever dreamt of falling asleep to the gentle rocking motion of a beautiful houseboat on the water? Well now is your chance to make your fantasies reality by visiting the 2-bedroom Captain’s Dream houseboat apartment located in the very centre of Amsterdam.
Sleeping up to 6 guests, this amazing holiday home makes all the other accommodation options in the city look extremely boring. This newly renovated water home is not only more spacious than you might ever imagine but also has all the usual comforts of a home on dry land. You will find a stunning living area with vibrant citrus and creamy white walls and warm wooden floorboards. Port holes and skylights provide lots of natural light. Relax together in the armchairs or the huge comfy sofa that also converts into a bed for one of your guests. An excellent flat screen TV is also available here for you to watch together as you socialise after a long day out exploring the city. Prepare your own meals in the wonderful fully fitted kitchen. There’s even a dining table and six chairs for making mealtimes that bit more comfortable and organised. There are two beautifully furnished private bedrooms fitted with double beds, storage furniture and pretty bed-side lighting. There’s more to discover outside as here you will find an excellent deck area where you can sit with your guests and enjoy a bottle of wine together on a warm summer’s evening.
Please note that since this is a property on the water it is not suitable for young children for obvious reasons.
The Captain’s Dream houseboat apartment is moored along the Amstel at the Waterlooplein. This is the home of the most famous flea market in the city which was originally central to the largest Jewish area in the city. Since around 80% of the 80,000 Jewish people deported during the Nazi occupation were murdered, their houses were not maintained and were eventually pulled down to make way for the city’s new council building and opera house that you can see there now. The Waterlooplein Flea Market has survived, although the current location is not the original. It remains as popular as ever with local people and visitors to the city. Here you can buy almost anything from vintage clothing to Dutch antiques. It is a great place to pick up a bargain and something unusual as a souvenir of your visit to the city. You will also find many unusual photo opportunities here. Who knows what treasure you might discover?
This is the very centre of the city and you will find the beautiful Canal Belt area of the city just a few minutes away. Across the water lies the Rembrandtplein, a popular drinking and eating plaza which also has some excellent nightlife. Nearby is the extraordinarily beautiful Tuschinski cinema. With its 2000-seater screening room and sumptuous Art Deco design, it will whisk you back in time to a more stylish era.
