This compact Amsterdam studio apartment is perfect for couples who believe that less is more. Still, it offers not only a great location, but also a very high level of comfort and convenience.
This great place is the essence of minimalism when it comes to interior design. That does not mean, however, that it compromises on anything – quite the contrary! The clever layout of the bright interiors allows this apartment to enjoy a maximum level of functionality and a pleasantly simple decor that keeps it both appealing and attractive to live in.
The main components of this place consist of a large sofa, a flatscreen TV with a DVD player, forming together an ideal home entertainment centre and a chic dining table complete with a set of chairs. Modest as it may seem, this living- dining room opens onto a balcony with a truly non-modest view of the surroundings.
The bedroom section furnished with a double bed and some storage space is recessed behind the main wall, which in turn functions as the support for the boiling-red-colored kitchen section, supplied with all the utensils you might find useful for some homelike cooking. The apartment comes complete with a nice fresh bathroom fitted with a toilet, shower and a sink.
The apartment is bound to leave a huge impression on you – not only because of its indoor styling, but mostly because of the outdoor attractions awaiting you once you arrive and leave the doorstep for the first time! It is located in the formerly industrial district of Kadijken, which is now full of rijksmonumenten (national monuments), many of which refer to its strong connection with the sea; after all, this is where you can find many of the prominent local warehouses and docks.
If you care for some more ‘marine’ landmarks, head west and visit the amazing Amsterdam Maritime History Museum – the name speaks for itself, or follow Oosterdok and check out the ultra-exciting NEMO Science Centre, which – apart from the astonishing amount of exhibits – offers a great view from of the city from the top level. Once you come back ashore, you can head to the elegant district of Plantage and explore the rich offer of Artis Royal Zoo, Hortus Botanicus, the Hermitage and stop by at any of the welcoming cafes and bars that you’ll find in the vicinity.
