If you are looking for central accommodation in Amsterdam for up to 6 guests then look no further than this delightful 2-bedroom apartment in the de Pijp neighbourhood.
Well lit and well designed with attractive wooden floorboards throughout and modern furnishings, this inviting city pad is yours for the holidays so kick off your shoes and get comfortable.
There’s a flat screen TV in the main living room area and a large sofa for you to relax on with your guests. It also doubles as a bed for two people at night times.
The private bedrooms are decorated in simple restful tones to encourage a good night’s sleep during your stay and you will find lots of storage space and two single beds and a double bed.
Back in the living area you will find an excellent open plan kitchen with all the essential items for preparing your own meals and favourite recipes during your stay. Meanwhile the elegant dining table is ideal for sociable mealtimes, using a lap top computer or laying out those huge city maps whilst you decide on tomorrow’s activities. There is also a private bathroom provided in the apartment which is fitted with a sink, toilet and shower.
It is important to note that the apartment is located on the 4th floor and there is no lift unfortunately. For this reason it may not be suitable for all guests.
The apartment boasts a fantastic location in the southern portion of the city in a popular and vibrant district known as de Pijp. Most certainly one of the shiniest jewels in Amsterdam’s shopping crown has to be the nearby phenomenal Albert Cuypstraat Market which attracts upwards of 20,000 visitors a day who come to peruse the wide selection of goods on sale. Take your pick from textiles, toys, clothes, fresh food, souvenirs, DVDs, and gadgets to spices, vintage wear ,army surplus and antique items – you will find it all on show here. The market weaves its way along the street for what feels like miles. If you are feeling peckish then be sure to stop off at the poffertje stall along the way. These warm mini sweet pancakes coated in butter and icing sugar are absolutely delicious and typically Dutch. If you have a more savoury tooth then perhaps you will try the raw pickled herring. It’s another Dutch delicacy served with a bread roll and chopped onions and gherkins.
Just north of the market is the city’s incredibly popular Heineken Experience, a museum dedicated to the creation of Holland’s most successful export. Here you can witness how the beer is created and even enjoy a taste along the way. It is also possible to purchase a bottle of the beer with a message of your choice or your name on the label. Can you imagine a better Amsterdam souvenir?
On warm days you might like to prepare a picnic and enjoy it with your guests under one of the many tall trees in the beautiful Sarphatipark which is located only a moment’s walk away from the apartment. Meanwhile to the east at the end of the road lies the beautiful Amstel River which you can follow northwards into town taking in some beautiful architectural sights along the way.
Getting to and from Central Station is very easy since the apartment is served by regular trams zipping along the nearby Ceintuurbaan on your doorstep. The journey takes around 12 minutes depending on traffic. Alternatively you may like to hire bicycles for the duration of your holiday. It’s the quickest and cheapest way to get around town and is of course much favoured by the locals. Don’t worry it’s a very safe way to travel since the city has dedicated cycle lanes away from the traffic and it’s of course extremely healthy and most importantly lots of fun!
