The 2-bedroom Harlem Luxury Apartment is located a short walk form Central Station in the city’s prettiest neighbourhood. Sleeping up to 6 guests it makes the perfect alternative to renting hotel rooms.

Spread across several floors, this charming holiday home boasts many original features that illustrate the age of the building itself including exposed wooden ceiling joists. A creamy décor and wooden flooring throughout create a warm and inviting ambience tying in nicely with the comfortable and tidy furnishings. The living room features a sofa and two armchairs form where you can watch the flat screen TV and socialise together. The sofa also folds out into a double bed for two of your guests. Mealtimes are perfectly taken care of in the open kitchen which is fitted with everything you could possibly need for preparing your own meals and recipes from home. Prepare picnics for days out in the city and serve up your culinary creations at the dining table and chairs also included. Head upstairs to discover the two private bedrooms which are both decorated in the same simple unfussy décor to encourage restful sleep on your holiday. You will find a double bed in one room and two singles in the other. The apartment also features a private bathroom fitted with a shower, sink and toilet. Please note that the staircase is rather steep therefore this property may not be suitable for elderly visitors or people travelling with young children. Unlike other properties in the city, smoking is permitted here.

The Harlem Luxury Apartment is located in the very centre of the city in what has to be arguably the Amsterdam’s prettiest neighbourhood known as the Canal Belt. The picturesque narrow streets, long canals, little bridges and 17th century leaning canal houses are absolutely breathtaking. Many of the waterways are lit up beautifully at night time by little lights under the bridges. The canal rings were added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2010 as they are considered to be of great architectural and historical importance. This was done with very good reasoning since, amazingly, the area narrowly missed being demolished altogether in the 1970s.  Many buildings had run into disrepair following the war and controversial plans were made to build a huge road to connect the city with outlying areas. Thankfully following many actual street battles with local residents, politicians and police the area was saved and the road was not built. The sad reality is that much of the nearby Jewish district, the Waterlooplein, had already been destroyed to make way for the controversial Metro development.
The city’s incredible recent and ancient history can be discovered at the excellent Amsterdam Historical Museum (also now known simply as the Amsterdam Museum). Located just a few minutes walk from your apartment it offers an insight on the rich history of this incredible European capital. The story is told to you chronologically and spread over three floors of an impressive ancient building which once used to be the city’s orphanage. From religion, folklore and art to subcultures, entertainment and prostitution - the city’s amazing history is revealed in the most enlightening way. If you thought history was boring then this museum will change you mind!

It only takes a few minutes to walk to and from Central station. The main street Nieuwezijds Voorburgwaal is also close by where you can hop on regular trams taking you out of the city and past the Leidseplein, Museum Square and the Vondelpark if you should wish to explore further afield.
