The apartment can be found nestled within the pretty parallel streets of the Jordaan district. Known for its delightful, often competitive, floral window boxes and attractive architecture, this is one of the most desirable neighbourhoods in the country.
You will find the city’s incredibly stunning Canal Belt district just a moment’s walk away to the east. It’s made up of four great canals that loop around the old city centre. The most famous, the Prinsengracht, is the nearest to the apartment. A short walk along the canal to the south will bring you to the most visited museum in the Netherlands, the Anne Frank Museum. Here at number 263 Anne, her family and friend lived in secret in the tiny rooftop annexe hiding from the Nazi regime during the war. You are able to climb through the secret doorway into their hide-away as well as see Anne’s actual diary and notes. The museum offers an insight into the history of ‘tolerance’ around the world and encourages visitors to consider their own actions in the future. An enlightening, moving and thought provoking experience for visitors of all ages. Since the museum is extremely popular all year round it is advisable to get there as early as possible in order to avoid the extremely long queues that occur particularly in the summer months.
Getting to and from the apartment is particularly easy as you can walk there in about 8 minutes. The apartment is perfectly positioned in the city for you to have easy access to all the city’s most popular attractions. There are nearly 60 museums to explore and of course a wealth of world class cultural attractions.
