Ideally located just minutes away from the heart of Amsterdam’s energetic city centre, this apartment is just a short walk away from the city’s world famous Dam Square. This huge square, which attracts visitors from across the globe, is often a bustling hive of activity and is decorated with a superb collection of shops, bars, restaurants and iconic buildings. The impressive National Monument, which commemorates those who fought in the Second World War, can also be found at the centre of Dam Square.
At one edge of the square is the remarkable 17th century Royal Palace, which is used by the Dutch Royal family for various events throughout the year. The interior of the palace is simply stunning and is open to the public for viewing. Alongside the Royal Palace is yet another of Amsterdam’s notable buildings, the striking New Church (Nieuwe Kerk). Referred to as one of the most important churches in the Netherlands, the church is also used by the Royal family for coronations and weddings.
Also nearby and a sight certainly not to be missed is the enchanting Begijnhof, a calm and tranquil courtyard which was created in the 14th century to house the city’s single catholic women. One of Amsterdam’s oldest surviving, traditional wooden houses can also be found within the Begijnhof, which is definitely worthy of a visit.
