Perfectly located in the in the pretty Plantage district of Amsterdam, this fantastic 2-bedroom self-catering apartment hosts up to 4 guests.
This delightful bright city apartment boasts wooden floorboards and a clean creamy white decor. You are encouraged to really relax here on your holiday and the big comfy sofa and TV will certainly help you wind down in style at the end of each day exploring the city and its many delights.
The private bedrooms are simply furnished and decorated in an unfussy style to encourage restful sleep during your stay. There’s a double bed in one room and two single beds in the second room. Meanwhile a private bathroom includes a shower, sink and toilet.
Topping of this impressive holiday abode is the excellent kitchen area which enables you to prepare favourite dishes from home at any time that suits you and your guests. Enjoy them served up together at the dining table and chairs alongside.
Extra information: Because the apartment is situated on the 4th floor and only reachable by fairly steep stairs, it is less suitable for elderly or handicapped people.
Just a ten minute walk away from the old city centre, this fantastic city pad makes a great choice for your holiday in Amsterdam. If you are travelling with heavy luggage you can always take the tram. It actually almost passes the apartment itself and you can hop on or off at one of two close by stops.
The apartment is located in an area known as the Dapperbuurt although it is also right on the cusp of the Plantage. The latter is a very leafy open area with beautiful architecture and there’s the lovely Oosterpark close by just across the road. You will also find the impressive Tropenmuseum less than one minutes’ walk away. Inside you will be treated to an informative and fascinating tour of a huge collection of non-western artefacts and cultural treasures.
The Dapperbuurt is particularly famous for its street market. Indeed it was recently voted as one of the top ten markets in the world by National Geographic Traveller Magazine. It is also the birthplace of one of Holland’s favourite artists Karel Appel.
Make your way along the Plantage Middenlaan into town on foot or perhaps hire bicycles for your stay. On the way in you will notice several memorials to the Jewish people that died in the Holocaust of the Second World War. The Plantage was once home to a huge Jewish population. Look out for the Hollansche Schouwburg, once a popular theatre. This was the place that Jewish people were rounded up by the Nazis before being deported to death camps in Eastern Europe. Today it is a place for memorial and reflection and features a small garden area at the rear, a huge wall of names and an eternal flame. Please do take time to call in and learn more about this, one of Amsterdam’s darkest and very recent periods in the museum upstairs. Please bear in mind that this is a private building where people visit from all over the world to pay their respects and experience some quiet time to remember those that have died. For this reason it may not be suitable if you are visiting with noisy children.
