Amsterdam is known for its canals. The Dutch word for canal is gracht. Your apartment is located on the Keizersgracht. This canal is one of the three biggest and most prestigious canals of Amsterdam. The other two are the Herengracht and the Prinsengracht. The Keizersgracht in English is the Emperor’s canal and is named after Maximilian I, the Holy Roman emperor.
