Montelbaan Houseboat Amsterdam

Montelbaan Houseboat Apartment will make your dreams of living on a canal houseboat a reality, this unique and stylish 1-bedroom houseboat for up to two guests is located in the city centre of Amsterdam.

Lit by skylights and side windows, this luxurious and bright 100 sqm houseboat offers plenty of room. You will find a creamy décor with lots of attractive wood panelling on the floor, ceiling and some walls. The comfortable living room has a sofa and chairs where you can relax or you may prefer to hop up into the hammock that hangs across the room for a gentle afternoon snooze. A flat screen TV is also provided, with many international channels available. Prepare your favourite meals from home in the surprising fully fitted kitchen and enjoy them together at the dining table.

In a private bedroom you will find a double bed. An impressive bathroom has all the usual amenities appealing to any land lover including a bath, shower, sink and toilet. Head up the stairs to the boat’s wheelhouse and enjoy mealtimes here for a change. Alternatively on warmer days you can enjoy a bottle of wine on the ship’s deck outside whilst watching the daily lively activities on the water.

The Montelbaan Houseboat Apartment is only a short walk from Central Station, making it an ideal base for visitors travelling on business as well as leisure. Perfectly located, the houseboat is moored along one of the pretty canals close to the square Nieuwmarkt. It lies just opposite the stunning Montelbaan Tower which was once famously painted by Rembrandt himself. You could barely ask for a more romantic setting.

The apartment is nearby the Waterlooplein flea market where you can pick up all kinds of unusual items and some unique souvenirs of your visit to the city. Grab a hot chocolate or a cool Dutch beer at the famously leaning Cafe De Sluyswacht on Jodenbreestraat. Its charming lop-sided exterior seems to constantly attract the attention of passing photographers. Inside this striking 17th century lock-keeper’s cottage it is snugly and warm in the winter months and sells reasonably priced drinks all year round. Meanwhile in the warmer months you might prefer to sit out on the charming terrace that overlooks your houseboat apartment. Or visit the Rembrandt House Museum, located opposite Cafe De Sluyswacht.

A little further west from the apartment, but only an 8 minute walk away, lies the city’s Red Light District. In this area you will also find the beautiful Oude Kerk (Old Church). At walking distance from the Montelbaan Houseboat Apartment, Nemo Science Museum in the Eastern Docklands is interesting for young and old. Its sloping roof, also accessible if you don’t visit the museum, has an outdoor café and fantastic views of Amsterdam city centre.

This was the second time I used Amsterdamapartments .com and on both occasions my expectations from the accommodation I booked has been exceeded. The service from the booking staff was excellent, helpful and knowledgable and the quality of the accommodation was first class. I would definitely recommend using them!

I can't imagine a better place to stay in Amsterdam: the boat is within easy walking reach of transit, services, and most cultural attractions, yet a restful haven from the busy streets.

There is no better way to experience Amsterdam then from this house boat. We stayed with two kids (10 and 8 year old) - there's a playground on the other side of the canal, not to mention nemo on walking distance, Carre theatre at a strolling distance and plenty of cool pubs for mum and dad to sneak to when the kids are asleep. Just sitting on the boat having a breakfast or a beer in the afternoon is in itself a treat! The people who own the boat are very friendly and helpful.
