Sample fine cuisine, learn from the pros, and browse the food exhibition at Taste of Amsterdam. This tasty al fresco event is on for 2014 from 15 to 18 May at Amstelpark which is near many of our Amsterdam apartments.
Taste of Amsterdam is back for another course this year at Amstelpark from 15 to 18 May, 2014 so fill your short stay with eating, drinking and entertainment at this annual food lover’s festival. When on a leisure or business short stay in Amsterdam people are always looking for good places to grab a hearty meal or enjoy fine dining at an exclusive eatery so this is your perfect opportunity to sample foods and signature dishes from top chefs of Amsterdam’s leading restaurants.
This popular al fresco food festival is running over four days at a peaceful park setting in Amstelpark, which is in southern Amsterdam near the RAI centre and De Pijp area. Hear the sounds of jazz and soul as you dine on the dishes on offer. The sample dishes that will be cooked fresh cost around €5 – €7.50, which you can purchase with the Florijnen tokens that you can buy at a number of stations on the festival grounds.
Restaurants involved include: Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, Momo, IZAKAYA, Lute, Aan de Peol, Restaurant Blauw, Vrienden van Jacob, de Kersentuin, and The Harbour Club. Each restaurant is listed on the website and you could even choose your favourite dish in advance by looking at each restaurants festival menu.
See a live cook-off with the Ready Steady Cook session at the AEG Makro Taste Theater between two rivalling chefs who have to prepare a dish using the ingredients from the mystery box . The audience gets to choose the winner. Here you can also see chefs do 30-minute cooking sessions and let you taste little samples to teach you about the dishes that they prepare so that you can even try them back at your short stay apartment or impress your friends and family when you travel back home.
You can get behind the stove at the festival too with the AEG Cooking Club where chefs give you direction on preparing a dish in the professional kitchen. This is an especially fun element if you are on a short stay with a group of family, friends or colleagues because you can all get involved for a bit of enjoyment and camaraderie. And after about 45 minutes you have a dish that you can enjoy eating together!
Every good meals needs a perfect wine companion so head to the Lekkere Wijntips Theater (Tasty Wine Tips Theatre) to find out which wine goes with your favourite dishes. Here Edwin Raben lets you see, smell and taste various wines, and teaches you the art of food and wine pairing.
